Black History Month is a great time to celebrate our diversity. Why February? The history goes back to 1920 when Dr. Carter Woodson wanted to honor the birth month of two men he believed drastically changed the future of African Americans by working to end slavery in the US - Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, and Frederick Douglass, one of the leading abolitionists in the US. Douglass was a firm believer in the equality of all people, whether black, female, Native American, or immigrant.

Our Avalon Park Center will be hosting this Scholastic Book Fair. What a great opportunity to find some great books for your children. This event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and we invite everyone to participate.
